Welcome To Your Safe Space

My name is Chrys Violet, and I’m a licensed psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience helping individuals heal, overcome, and transform - no matter their backgrounds or circumstances.

My journey began at the renowned HBCU, Spelman College in Atlanta, where I majored in psychology. After graduating, I took a break and went to work in music, which was also a necessary part of my career and my therapeutic approach.

I always believed in the power of music, and my little detour connected both my profession as a psychotherapist and my love for music. To me, art, especially music, has the great ability to connect, inspire, and validate or make sense of our feelings - much like therapy does. Ultimately, my musical adventure, full of incredible life stories from others and deepening my connection with people, led me to return to my service to my community.

I entered UCLA and completed the graduate program, and, for almost 10 years, I worked at one of the busiest mental health clinics in Los Angeles where I focused on individual and group therapy sessions. During my time at the clinic, as a lead clinician in the triage unit, I witnessed a wide range of mental health conditions, from mild depression to PTSD and schizophrenia, that was made worse because of the shame people felt for reaching out for professional help. Because of my experiences, I use both my writing and media outlets to bring awareness to this antiquated stigma of therapy and mental health, especially in POC communities.

I understand that we all have layers and complexities about ourselves, and my mission as a therapist is to help you realize that your feelings and life story are valid. I approach each therapy session with compassion and creativity. With me, you won’t get the cut-out, detached therapist that you might have heard rumors about. My values center around helping you cultivate self-growth and progress, and, to do that, there’s no room for ordinary textbook methods.

By working together inside a safe space where you can be 100% vulnerable with yourself, I know you will be able to experience a smoother, more enjoyable life where you no longer feel trapped in one place.
